THE RUNDOWN
- Naomi Osaka geared up to play the 2025 US Open in a monochrome red Nike look.
- Her outfit featured a cropped jacket, a bubble-hem skirt, and custom rose-detailed hair accessories and sneakers—including a Labubu named Billie Jean Bling.
- The four-time Grand Slam winner called the US Open her “favorite and greatest tournament.”
All eyes were on Naomi Osaka as she stepped onto the court at Louis Armstrong Stadium in a head-to-toe red look for her first match at the 2025 US Open. The four-time Grand Slam champion walked out wearing an embellished cropped jacket and a bubble-hem skirt in the same fiery hue, while carrying her racquet bag and a Nike duffel.
Osaka completed her entrance with a black visor and a pair of sparkling red headphones. A matching Labubu charm, covered in red embellishments and cheekily named Billie Jean Bling in honor of the tennis legend, hung from her bag to tie the look together.
She paired the outfit with bright red Nike sneakers, designed specifically for the tournament.
Osaka’s styling extended beyond apparel and footwear. Her hair was adorned with shimmering rose accessories, continuing the floral theme seen in her custom Nike GP Challenge 1 sneakers. The tournament-exclusive design, released just before her match, features layered tones of red with a black Swoosh and rose print detailing across the shoe. The insole also has her personalized “NO” logo, marking her initials.
This floral direction is the latest in a series of symbolic outfit choices for Osaka in 2025. Earlier this year, she played in sunflower-inspired sneakers and hair accessories at the Australian Open and debuted a cherry blossom motif during the French Open. At Roland-Garros, she explained the theme, telling reporters, per Sports Illustrated, “The shoes are Sakura-themed, which is just in time for spring, which is Sakura season. It follows the flower story that we have throughout the year.”
She also pointed out another detail: “I don’t know if you can see from all the way over here, but I did my nails. They’re Sakura-themed too. I’m really sticking to the flower story that we have.”
Beyond her fashion, Osaka emphasized how significant the US Open feels to her personally. When asked in her pre-tournament press conference what memories she might share with her daughter, Shai, in the future, she said, “I think what I would tell her is this is probably my favorite and the greatest tournament for me. I have so many really cool memories here. I also have some not-so-cool memories here. For me, the US Open is an embodiment of New York, and it’s very loud and busy, but it’s also really special.”
