Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook reportedly declared a condominium unit she purchased in 2021 as a “vacation” and “second” home in loan filings and other documents — undermining the Trump administration’s claim that she engaged in mortgage fraud, which the president used as grounds for his attempt to fire Cook from the Fed’s Board of Governors.
A May 2021 loan estimate provided to Cook by a credit union shows that she had indicated to the lender that the Atlanta property would not be her primary residence but rather a “vacation home,” Reuters
reported on Friday. Additionally, on a December 2021 form submitted by Cook to gain a security clearance, she described the property as a “second home.”
