Though Season 3 of Netflix’s Monster hasn’t premiered yet, Season 4 is already in the works. If you need a refresher: Season 1 starred Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer, and season 2 followed the Menendez brothers (played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch). The upcoming third season, which is slated to premiere on October 3, is set to star Charlie Hunnam as the serial killer Ed Gein. Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, and Olivia Williams will also round out that cast.
Now, here’s everything we know about season 4 of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series.
What will Monster season 4 be about?
According to Variety, season 4 will focus on Lizzie Borden. Borden (1860-1927) lived in Massachusetts and was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe, but she was later acquitted of the deadly crimes. After her acquittal, Borden continued to live in Fall River, MA, until she died of pneumonia in her late 60s.
Borden’s story has previously been immortalized on the screen in the 2015 series The Lizzie Borden Chronicles starring Christina Ricci as Borden and the 2018 film Lizzie starring Chloë Sevigny as the titular character, and Kristen Stewart as Bridget Sullivan, the Borden’s live-in maid and Lizzie’s close confidant.
Who is in the season 4 cast of Monster?
Ella Beatty (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans), the daughter of Annette Bening and Warren Beatty, will play Lizzie Borden.
And per Deadline, additional cast members include: Billie Lourd (The Last Showgirl) as Lizzie’s older sister, Emma Borden; Jessica Barden (The End of the F***ing World) as Nance O’Neill, a stage actress who’s friends with Lizzie; Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) as the maid, Bridget Sullivan; Rebecca Hall (The Studio) as Lizzie’s stepmother, Abby Borden; and Charlie Hunnam (who leads Monster season 3) will quickly return to the Ryan Murphy universe to play Lizzie’s father, Andrew Borden.
