The autumn season lends itself well to giving your life a refresh. It’s a great opportunity to reevaluate your fall wardrobe—and dare I say, consider a new haircut? Maybe even revamp your workwear, while you’re at it. It’s also prime time to jump into fall interior design home trends.

“This fall, we are seeing trends leaning into designs with heritage and heart; pieces that feel like they’ve lived with you for years,” says Noah Morse, co-founder and head of product at Sundays and Hetta.

This Fall’s Best Home Design Trends

The president of Pottery Barn, Monica Bhargava, also weighed in on my research. “[From] designs featuring woodland animals paired with leather and brass to cozy plaids in earthy colors, warm leather and wood tones, the season is about bringing a sense of comfort and character into the home,” Bhargava says. “It’s a classic and relevant approach to cozy living that embraces both beauty and functionality.” Ahead, check out the eight hottest décor trends for fall 2025.

Autumn traditionally calls for hues like burgundy and mocha, and this season is no different. According to Morse, current color trends lean into chocolate, toffee, bronze, and creamy neutrals.

Layering

Put on your thinking cap and enjoy playing the role of designer with this next one. Whether it’s area rugs, table linens, throw blankets, or even matted wall art, layering is in. Old and new are tried-and-true complements, but you can also have fun with patterns, prints, and textures.

Mixed Textures

And speaking of layering for contrast, I can’t leave out mixed materials. Morse and Maura Dineen, creative director of Moe’s Home, both echoed this trend to me. Who says you can’t have shearling, velvet, wood, and jute in the same living space? “The result is cozy, storied, and quietly elevated, made to age beautifully over decades,” says Morse.

Marble Finishes

Calling all millennials: This one is for you. Indeed, marble is back. Dineen credits this to “a shift toward materials and finishes that embrace character and longevity.” Whatever the reason, I’m sure you don’t need much of an excuse to buy those darling marbled candlesticks or coasters you’ve been eyeing.

Patina

In a similar vein, items with patina are trending. This harks back to the concept of weathered pieces that have stood the test of time and heirlooms with storied pasts. For reference, metal, leather, wood, stone, and denim are primary materials that patina over time. Opt for a purchase that comes pre-distressed or invest in something fresh that will age beautifully through the years.

High-Gloss Surfaces

On the other side of the spectrum, “high-gloss surfaces [are bringing] a fresh, polished energy” to this season’s interiors, says Dineen. “These distinct directions reflect a dialogue between past and present in the way we design today.”

Statement Tiling

Dipping into Pinterest’s 2025 Fall Trend Report, users are really diving into statement tiling lately. Searches for “unique tiles” are up 450 percent, “terracotta textured tiles” are up 833 percent, and “vintage tiles” have skyrocketed 1,107 percent since last fall.

It seems like every few years, we collectively fall in love with The Great Gatsby all over again. Well, 2025 must be one of those years, because old-school glamour is having yet another renaissance. On Pinterest, searches for Art Deco interiors and new Art Deco are up a combined 1,242 percent compared to last year.
